Best Friends....

Hello everybody,

Surprise! I did some colouring yesterday. I am inspired by Alice Wertz's work. She is brilliant in colouring and her card layouts are quirky. The angles on her card and the beautifully coordinated pattern paper to the coloured image is just gorgeous. And I love that. So I tried my hand at doing her layout as well. Here it is.

Best Friends Card

I had fun colouring with copics and also getting that shading done with distress inks. had major struggle with the layout. In the end I kind of did it OK, right? Love how it turned out. Here is the closeup!

Best Friends Card Close Up!

I have used stamp set called Best Friends from My favorite Things. I love the cute girl image. Great stamp set. I love it.

Hope you like my card.

2013 - A Roundup!

Hello everybody,

2013 is nearly done. Only three more days of it left. This year has been very good for me. Starting new life in the city, children getting into gifted school, overseas trip and cursing to Alaska,  had a great year designing for The Craft's Meow, Studio Calico, still designing for the gorgeous Uniko studio and challenge blogs and so many publication in both Papercraft Magazine and Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft Magazine. Time did fly very fast and before I knew it was Christmas and now New Year. I am blessed and thank everybody involved including family and friends for giving me such a great year. Thank you so much.

Enough of the speech, I wanted to do a round up of my favourite cards I had done this year 2013. So I tried to pick one card a month but I think couple of months have two or three cards and June had none (I was on holiday). Bear with me I have lots of photos on this post.

Just Because!

Hello everybody,

I played along My Favorite Things Sketch #156 today.

MFTWSC156

It is a beautiful CAS sketch. But I wanted to do some things pretty with layers.
Here is my take on the sketch.

Just Because

I did ombre background by sponging Mint Julep ink lighter on the top to gradually darker as it goes towards the bottom of the card front. I then layered with chevron diecut using Chevron Coverup die from MFT. Layered with a circle diecut using white glitter paper and Stitched Circle Stax die from MFT. Instead of the sideways speech bubble insert. I diecut a few Contemporary Roses (MFT) using vellum and stamped just the shading image on the vellum. And for the leaves I stamped using gold ink. Layered the flowers and leaves. Then stamped the sentiment from Contemporary Roses on to the banner diecut and layered using foam adhesives. Used some sequins to accent. Here is a closeup!

Just Because

Love the colours mint, pink and gold together. I loved how it turned out. Because it was exactly how I pictured. Hope you do too:)

Joy to the World!

Here is one of the cards I made using the Simon Says Stamps Holiday Card Kit.

Joy to the world card

Beautiful double sided pattern papers that I had difficulty choosing which side to use. Loved the cute 3D presents stickers and the banner sticker from the BG sticker sheet. No stamping on this card. Easy to make yet looks gorgeous.

Friends Stick Together!

Playing along My Favorite Things Sketch #155 today.
Here is the sketch.
MFTWSC155

Love this sketch. It looks CAS sketch but you can layer a lot with this sketch. That is what I have done today with my card below.

Friends Card

I coloured couple of Pure Innocence images. I have been meaning to do this for a long time. Finally got the time to colour those gorgeous images. The pattern papers are from Pink Paislee's Colourwash Collection. The banner die and sentiments are from My Favorite Things. The layered landscapes are made using the beautiful curved die from Ornament Builder dies also from My Favorite Things.
Not bad colouring huh? I was telling my hubby that I am having trouble seeing things and therefore have trouble colouring. So he bought me one of those magnifier with lights! Sweet of him but I am getting dizzy using it. lol! It works very well. I have to really look close and colour. It is awesome to see detailed parts of the images and colour. I just have to get used to it. My son looked at me using it and said, now you like an old lady. All you need is to start knitting and a lazy cat on your lap! :(
 Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #58

It almost end of the year! Gosh! I just cannot believe that this year has gone by so fast. It is all a blur to me. I feel like I have just moved from the country to city. And it is already a year since I moved. Anyway, here is the new sketch from CAS(E) this sketch for you. This sketch is the last sketch for this year and will run till January 9th 2014. So take your time and play along the sketch.

What a perfect CAS sketch by N@ Ali. Here is my take on the sketch.

Merry Christmas Card

I have used the gorgeous Holiday Card kit from Simon Says Stamps to make my card. There are two stamp sets in the kit. The background snowflakes stamped in ombre blue is from the larger stamp set with border stamps in it. The sentiments come from the smaller stamp set. And the snowflakes are from die also in the kit. Here is an shot of the card.

Merry Christmas card closeup!

Love the beautiful ombre snowflake background. The rhinestones add sparkle and festivity to the card.

Check out CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge Blog for our very special guest designer. I bet you will be in awe of her and her work. Also the rest of the DT projects using this sketch.

Runaway Inspired....

Playing along Runaway Inspired Challenge #50 today.
This is my card for the challenge.

Happy Birthday Card

This card came together very quickly. I had the sparkly green paper on my desk. Then I went through my dies and found I already had a this die cut and stamped as well. So I trimmed the sparkly paper and glued the stamped diecut. Trimmed the excess off. Mounted the panel on the card front using foam adhesives. The used the trimmed off die cut and adhered it to the card front making sure I align with the rest of the diecut on the green panel. Then used the rhinestones to accent. Added the sentiment to the card. Love the green and white and dash of black on the card.

Its your BIG day!

Quick post sharing another card I made using MFT Sketch #154.

Celebrate Card

I have embossed the Celebrate die on to the white panel. And used the brush strokes die from Jumbo Abstract Art stamp set and stamped over the embossed word in a few different colours. This highlights the embossed word. It is subtle but beautiful. Hope this close up photo shows it.

Celebrate card

The pattern papers are from Kaisercraft Confetti Collection. The stamped sentiment is from Big Greetings Stamp Set from MFT.

Here is the MFT sketch #154

Merry Christmas Card

These are so easy to make. All you need is snowflakes dies, angled die, Christmas pattern papers, glitter papers, Christmas sentiments and some embellishments like pearls/sequins/rhinestones.

I have used PTI snowflake dies. angled die is from MFT Ornament Banner die set, PTI Christmas pattern papers, Christmas sentiment also from PTI's Holiday Cheer and Pow glitter paper.

This turned out good that I wiped out lots of it for my personal use as well :)

Sweet Snowflakes Designers

Beverley Brown, Uniko Studio

Here is my project using Stunning Snowflakes and coordinating dies.

Warm Winter Wishes

I chose the colours and the snowflakes from the inspirational picture. But I also wanted to add the texture from the rustic biscuits. For the texture I chose the wooden plank pattern paper from Kaisercraft Confetti Collection and the hessian. I diecut the medium size snowflakes using glitter paper. The little stars are the centers from the smaller snowflakes diecut and the larger star is from the largest snowflakes diecut. The senitment is from the Stunning Snowflakes stamp set. I also added some soft pink sequins to add a bit more colour. Here is a close up of the card.

Warm Winter Wishes close up!
